Virtual Reality Software

  • VR Juggler
VR Juggler, the most popular Open Source tool set for developing virtual reality applications, was developed by a talented team of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students at VRAC. It is being use in hundreds of sites world-wide and includes support for most of the popular computer platforms and virtual reality systems. VR Juggler's clustering capabilities are a key element of the software infrastructure supporting the 100 Million pixel C6 immersive virtual reality environment.
  • VE Suite
VE-Suite is an open source virtual engineering design analysis toolkit/software package developed by Iowa State Professor Mark Bryden and a team of VRAC researchers. Currently, VE-Suite is used in several large organizations: John Deere, NETL, REI, and INL (Idaho National Laboratory).
VE-Suite allows users to take complex data and orchestrate them into a more easily understood representation in two or three dimensions. VE-Suite is an extensible software architecture and is composed of several tools, including VE-Builder, VE-Conductor, VE-Explorer, and VE-Designer. Currently, this package can read, display, and combine multiple steady and transient data sets including experimental data, CAD data, and CFD/FEA results in both two and three dimensions.
  • CAVELib™
Its the ultimate building block solution for interactive 3D environments. It is a powerful CAVE software application programmer interface (API) that provides the cornerstone for creating robust interactive three-dimensional environments. (Mechdyne Corporate 11 East Church Street, 4th Floor, Marshalltown, IA USA 50158, Tel: 641.754.4649)
  • CAVERNsoft
The common collaborative software architecture for CAVERN. The goal of this project is to develop the next generation collaborative networking infrastructure to sustain collaborative, persistent virtual environments.
  • Virtual Sound Server (VSS)
Developed at NCSA and ISL, VSS is multiplatform software for data-driven sound production controlled from interactive applications.
VSS controls, coordinates, and synchronizes sounds produced by direct software synthesis, sample playback, and external synthesizers such as MIDI, Max, and Open Sound Control.
